Springfield City Council is scheduled to hear first reading on the resolutions at its Monday meeting.
The fare increase would raise the adult passenger fare from 75 cents to $1 on Oct. 1, then to $1.10 on Oct. 1, 2008, and to $1.25 on Oct. 1, 2009. All other fare categories would rise proportionately by 2009.
The board also approved a supplemental budget of $33.5 million for City Utilities’ expenses resulting from January’s ice storm. Two other approved resolutions addressed an emergency water conservation plan that would amend the existing plan, formed in 1981, and an emergency water rate plan that would allow for rate changes if the emergency water conservation plan is activated; both would go into effect Oct. 1 if approved by council.
