The Missouri Women’s Council has hosted the annual fund-raiser since 2002 in a continuing effort to provide funding for early breast cancer detection services for uninsured and underinsured women.
Hundreds of the pink license plates have been sold in the last three years, and more applications are processed daily. Sales have nearly tripled since the first check for $5,227 was presented in 2003. All proceeds are used solely to provide breast cancer services to eligible Missouri women ages 40-49.
To support the effort, a tax-deductible donation of $25 or more can be made to the Friends of the Missouri Women’s Council. Checks should be made out to Pink Plate, P.O. Box 1684, Jefferson City, MO, 65102, along with a completed application, available at www.womenscouncil.org.
Show Me Healthy Women, formerly the Breast and Cervical Cancer Control Project, collaborates each year with the Department of Health and Family Support Division to provide free breast and cervical screening services to eligible low-income Missouri women ages 35-64.
