Council names 3 finalists for Zone 3 seat

Springfield City Council has selected three finalists for the Zone 3 council seat.

The finalists are: Jeremy Cady, Web/graphic manager at Damar Worldwide in Aurora; Jerry Compton, owner and principal architect of JWC Architecture in Springfield; and Dan Scott, architect and owner at Design Agency and Jericho Development Co. in Springfield, according to a city news release.

Each candidate will be interviewed, separately and in a random order, starting at 6 p.m. tonight in council chambers in Historic City Hall. Each will be asked the same questions.

Mayor Jim O'Neal said he would like council to vote Monday following the interviews; a five-vote majority is needed to declare a winner, according to the release. Council's regularly scheduled meeting starts at 7 p.m.

The three finalists were selected from a group of nine after each gave a five-minute presentation to council on Wednesday. Council members were asked to select their top four choices.

The finalists' interviews on Monday will air live on the city's Web site, at the link below, and on TV23, the city's government access channel. The public also is permitted to attend the interviews.[[In-content Ad]]
