Costco has faced backlash on social media over a requirement that customers would not be allowed inside stores unless they wear a face mask.
Customers on social media warned they would cancel their memberships and boycott the company. However, others defended the policy.
“Please continue to observe rules regarding appropriate distancing while on Costco premises,” officials with the retailer said, noting the mask policy “should not be seen as a substitution for social distancing.”
