Two Southern California women have filed suit against Costco.
The lawsuit alleges the company's $5 rotisserie chickens are falsely advertised as preservative free.
Costco told The New York Times that it has removed statements about preservatives from its rotisserie chickens.
“To maintain consistency among the labeling on our rotisserie chickens and the signs in our warehouses/online presentations, we have removed statements concerning preservatives from the signs and online presentations,” Costco officials said in a statement to The New York Times. “We use carrageenan and sodium phosphate to support moisture retention, texture and product consistency during cooking."
