Cost to say ‘I do’ soars to record high

Marriage is becoming an even more expensive endeavor.

According to The Knot's 2016 Real Weddings study, the average cost of a wedding rose to a record high of $35,329 last year. That’s an 8 percent increase from 2015.

The average number of wedding guests last year dropped to 141 from 149 in 2009. Couples spent an average of $245 per wedding guest last year, up from $194 seven years ago.
