Setting the record Strait
The travel column that appeared in the Dec. 11-17 issue of the Springfield Business Journal appeared under the name of the wrong author. The column, on travel tips for the holidays, was authored by Linda Strait, president of House of Travel Inc.
Additional holiday travel tips from Strait include:
Check with your travel agent to see if there is a complimentary shuttle available from the airport to your hotel.
Ask your travel agent to put the hotel phone number on your itinerary. If your hotel is guaranteed for late arrival and your plans change, you can cancel the reservation so your credit card won't be billed.
If traveling with Christmas gifts, consider mailing them ahead. Sometimes luggage doesn't make it if flights are delayed and connections are tight. Wrapped gifts carried on board may have to be unwrapped to satisfy security.
Before traveling, visit www.dot.gov/airconsumer/flyrights.htm, the consumer's guide to air travel.
