Copyright Royalty Board hikes rates Pandora must pay

The Copyright Royalty Board yesterday ruled Pandora Media Inc. and other Internet radio stations must pay higher royalties for songs.

The ruling stipulates the online streaming music companies must pay 17 cents per 100 plays of songs through 2020.

That's up from the current rate of 14 cents per 100 streams.

The new rule takes effect Jan. 1.
