The organization’s U.S. Disaster Team has been there since Saturday. More than 120,000 pounds of relief products, including bottled water, Powerade, soup, cereal, soymilk, chips and cleaning supplies have been distributed, and another truck was scheduled to depart yesterday.
Convoy of Hope also is working in Jakarta, Indonesia, an area experiencing severe flooding.
In March, Convoy teams will head to Zambia in Africa with members of Drury University’s Students in Free Enterprise team to educate locals on creating bio-sand filters to create drinkable water.
Convoy also plans to head to Chihuahua, Mexico, to help its people recover from an unexpectedly intense winter. Two loads of supplies already have been sent.
