Convoy of Hope president to keynote governor's prayer event

Convoy of Hope co-founder and President Hal Donaldson will be the keynote speaker for Gov. Jay Nixon's prayer breakfast marking the spiritual beginning to the 2014 legislative session.

The event scheduled Jan. 9 at Capitol Plaza Hotel and Convention Center in Jefferson City is an annual interfaith event for all leaders and residents in Missouri, according to a news release. The 2014 theme comes from Philippians 4:6 in the Bible: “Do not be anxious about anything, but in every situation, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your requests to God.”

Proceeds from the event - garnered from $30 individual or $300 table tickets - support the governor's forum on faith and values, a three-day study of faith and leadership bringing together Missouri college students.

Donaldson has led Springfield-based nonprofit Convoy of Hope to donate more than $400 million in food and supplies to some 63 million people affected by disasters, the release said.
