Representatives of MGM Properties Inc. and St. Jude Children's Research Hospital yesterday broke ground on the 9th annual St. Jude Dream Home.
The four-bedroom, two-and-a-half-bath house, which has an estimated value of $350,000, is being constructed in the Olde Ivy subdivision near Republic Road and U.S. Highway 65, according to a news release.
Tickets for a chance to win the home and other prizes will go on sale starting in April for $100 apiece, with all proceeds benefiting pediatric cancer research organization St. Jude. Winners will be announced in June on KSPR, Springfield Business Journal's media partner.
The home will be shown as part of the 2013 Parade of Homes, an event hosted since 1954 by the Home Builders Association of Greater Springfield.
This year, the St. Jude Dream Home was a roughly $350,000, 2,800-square-foot home built by Fahrlander Custom Homes Inc. and designed by Fritz Designs. It also is located in the Olde Ivy subdivision, at 2515 E. German Ivy, according to

MGM Properties Inc. also had a presence in the 2012 parade, having built a $122,900, 1,528-square-foot home at 1260 S. Strasbourg Ave.
