Estimated Cost: $697.1 million
Work on City Utilities’ $697.1 million second unit at Southwest Power Station is on pace for completion in late 2010, said Joel Alexander, CU communications manager. With 94,000 square feet, the 300-megawatt plant will supplement CU’s power-generating capabilities. It will include features such as air-pollution and mercury controls aimed at reducing emissions. The project, which requires about 600 workers on-site, is financed through 30-year bonds that customers will begin repaying in October, according to previous Springfield Business Journal coverage.[[In-content Ad]]
