Construction in the Ozarks: Greene County Public Safety Center

Construction of the $19.7 million public safety center is funded through federal grants, a community block grants and 911 sales tax revenues. DeWitt & Associates is the general contractor for the three-story building, which will house Springfield-Greene County 911 and the Springfield-Greene County Office of Emergency Management. Pellham-Phillips Architects & Engineers Inc. and Winter Park, Fla.-based Architects Design Group are the architects for the 55,000-square-foot structure. The engineers are Olsson Associates Inc., civil; Mettemeyer Engineering LLC, structural; and Pellham-Phillips, mechanical, electrical and plumbing. The building, which is designed to withstand an EF-5 tornado, also will have an emergency operations center where state, federal and local responders can collaborate. Completion is slated around mid-March.
