Construction employment rises in Missouri last month

Missouri added 500 construction jobs in October, increasing total statewide employment in the industry to 111,000, according to an analysis of federal employment data from the Associated General Contractors of America. The Kansas City Business Journal reports the October additions amount to 0.5 percent growth.

From October 2012 to October 2013, construction employment in Missouri has grown by 6.7 percent, or 7,000 jobs. In terms of percentage, Missouri is the sixth-fastest-growing state in construction employment.

Mississippi took the top spot, growing its construction workforce by 6.7 percent, which also amounts to 7,000 jobs.
