Construction Around Town: Senior Friendship Center

Republic's existing senior center is undergoing a renovation and addition to nearly double its size. When the $375,000 project is finished next summer, it will be renamed the Senior Friendship Center. General contractor Masonry Structures Inc. began work in July. Sapp Design Associates is the architect.

Greg Chadwell, Republic's community development director, said the new space will feature a lounge area, game room, quilt room, library/computer room, offices and a respite area made available through the Southwest Missouri Office on Aging.
