R. E. Smith Co. is the general contractor for this addition to the Chesterfield Family Recreational Center, and Bates and Associates Inc. is the architect. Several engineering firms also are involved: Engineering Consultants Inc. for structural; Smith-Goth Engineers Inc. for mechanical and electrical; and Hood-Rich Inc. for civil. The 21,000-square-foot addition includes 6,000 square feet of water surface, including a zero-depth entrance, children's play area, exercise lanes, indoor/outdoor water tube, and additional fitness and workout areas. The facility, which is scheduled for completion this fall, also will have a separate lap pool, a large workout area and family changing rooms. The quarter-cent countywide sales tax for parks, approved by voters in November 2001, is funding the project, which has an estimated cost of $3.65 million.|ret||ret||tab|
