Architect Stephanie Ireland did the design work for her new office space at 1908 E. Sunshine. Bales Construction is the general contractor and Malone Finkle Eckhardt & Collins is the engineer. Ireland said the new location, which includes renovation and the addition of 1,800 square feet, should be finished by the end of August. Ireland's architecture firm will occupy about half of the 4,800-square-foot space and the remainder will be available for lease. The estimated cost for the renovation and addition is $200,000, Ireland said, and Liberty Bank is the lender.
"We've basically outgrown our space, and this will give us more room with some future space," Ireland said. Much of her firm's work is for the medical field, Ireland said. St. John's is one of her clients, and the new location's proximity to St. John's, as well as high visibility, were factors in choosing the new place. The move is also an investment for Ireland, who owns the building, which formerly housed a restaurant.
"It works very well for an office area because restaurants typically have a large, open area where their dining area is. So it's easy to put walls up and doors for that area. The kitchen was little more intense, but it's just demolition taking everything out and you have to patch everything up," she said.
