Congressional leaders reach short-term spending agreement

Congressional leaders announced an agreement on a short-term spending bill that averts a possible partial federal government shutdown.

The agreement includes an additional $231 million for the Secret Service following two assassination attempts against Donald Trump, former president who is running again this year for the job.

The new budget year starts Oct. 1.
