Confidential GOP memo taps into Trumpism

Through a confidential memo entitled “Observations on Donald Trump and 2016,” National Republican Senatorial Committee Executive Director Ward Baker imagines the billionaire presidential candidate as the party’s 2016 nominee – and one from which other candidates should learn.

The seven-page memo urges potential conservative officeholders to adopt many of Trump’s tactics, including how they dress and use Twitter.

Trump, Baker says, has connected with voters because they view him as authentic, independent, direct, firm and as someone who can’t be bought. Fellow Republicans should learn from this, Baker says in the memo, and grab onto the best elements of his anti-Washington populist agenda.
