Confederate statue in Virginia coming down after year of lawsuits

After a year of lawsuits, a Confederate Robert E. Lee statue in Virginia is being taken down.

Democratic Gov. Ralph Northam announced plans to remove the 12-ton statue in Richmond last year amid racial justice protests.

A group of residents from Richmond's historic Monument Avenue filed suit to keep the statue in place. Last week, the Virginia Supreme Court sided with Northam.
