Conde Nast, the owner of magazine brands such as Vogue and the New Yorker, acquired Chicago's Pitchfork Media, one of the most influential sources for music news and reviews online.
Terms of the deal were undisclosed.
Pitchfork.com brought in nearly 3 million unique visitors in August, a 20 percent bump from the same month a year earlier. By Comparison, RollingStone.com drew 16.1 million.
Founded in 1995 by Ryan Schreiber, Pitchfork evolved from a leading source of independent music news to a go-to platform for both popular and indie music journalism.
