ConAgra posts lower-than-expected quarterly sales

ConAgra Foods reported lower-than-expected quarterly sales as demand for its grocery, snacks and frozen food items dropped.

Sales dipped 4.6 percent to $2.67 billion, below analysts' predictions of $2.73 billion.

Net income improved to $186.2 million, compared with a $1.15 billion loss a year earlier.
