Competition for high-speed fiber Internet escalating

Louisiana-based broadband provider CenturyLink announced Tuesday plans to expand its gigabit fiber optic services to 13 cities, including Columbia and Jefferson City, according to the Washington Post.

Residential fiber service will cost $79.95 when bundled with other services.

Other cities on the list include Seattle, Portland and Denver, the Washington Post reports.
