Compere to be sworn in Feb. 16

Posted online
Springfield certified public accountant Bill Compere will take his oath of office as Greene County treasurer at 11:30 a.m. Feb. 16 at the Greene County Historic Courthouse Rotunda.

The oath of office ceremony will be followed by a reception, both of which are open to the public, according to a county news release.

Compere relieves Justin Hill, the county's chief deputy auditor, who has worked as the interim treasurer since former Greene County Treasurer John Hoffman abruptly resigned Dec. 10, following the indictment of a staff member concerning embezzlement charges. Hill will return to work as chief deputy auditor.

Compere will serve the remainder of Hoffman's term, which comes to a close Dec. 31, 2012.

Compere is a real estate agent with CJR Commercial Group. He recently was appointed to fill the vacant treasurer position by Gov. Jay Nixon.
