The nonprofit organization operated out of both Nixa and Ocala for two years before deciding its focus was needed in the southeastern part of the country, where the number of people affected by hurricanes is higher than ever, according to an organization news release.
“Coastal disaster response is a large part of the ministry’s focus and future,” the release said. “The long-term recovery of a hurricane is three to five years, and so many people have been added to the ranks of the poor because of the tumultuous hurricanes in recent years.”
