Another View: Paintings by the artists of Splatter Studio continues at Keyes Gallery, 229 S. Market Ave., through Jan. 29.

Emerging NYC continues at the Pool Art Center Gallery, 940 N. Clay St. on the Drury University campus, through Jan. 31. Gallery hours are 8 a.m.-5 p.m. Monday through Friday.

Multicultural Exhibit continues through Feb. 13 at Springfield Art Museum, 1111 E. Brookside Drive.

SMSU Art and Design Faculty Exhibit continues at The Library Center through Jan. 31. The Library Center is open 8:30 a.m.-9 p.m. Monday through Saturday and 1-5 p.m. Sunday.

Work by Bill Armstrong, presented by Hagerman New Urbanism’s Park Central Gallery and Southwest Missouri State University, is on display at the gallery through Feb. 10. Selected works are available for sale in silent auction until that date, when remaining pieces will be sold in a live auction. Freedom March, celebrating the life and legacy of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr., begins with parade assembly at 11 a.m. at City Hall.

Freedom Rally begins at noon at the Abundant Life Center, 157 Park Central Square.

Multicultural Opportunity Festival, presented by Unite. of Southwest Missouri Inc., will be held 1-5 p.m. at Juanita K. Hammons Hall for the Performing Arts.

Jan. 18

The Social Justice Fair, in celebration of the life and legacy of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr., is held 5:30-7 p.m. at the Plaster Student Union second floor atrium on the SMSU campus.

Reflections on Personal Experiences with Martin Luther King, a panel discussion on King’s impact, will be held 7-9 p.m. in SMSU’s Plaster Student Union Theater.

Jan. 20

“Let Freedom Ring” will be held 7-9 p.m. in SMSU’s Plaster Student Union Theater.

“Riverdance” takes the stage at 7:30 p.m. at Juanita K. Hammons Hall for the Performing Arts. Additional performances are at 8 p.m. Jan. 21, and 2 and 8 p.m. Jan. 22. Tickets are $20-$55 and can be purchased by calling the SMSU box office at (417) 836-SMSU or (888) 4-SMS-TIX.

Springfield Regional Opera presents Café des Artistes: Young Artists Showcase “Babes in the Woods” at 7:30 p.m. at the Vandivort Center Theatre. Performances repeat Jan. 22 and 23, and Jan. 27-30. Call (417) 863-1960 for more information.

Jan. 22

Philosophy Inspired by Martin Luther King, sponsored by SMSU’s African American studies department, will be held 7-9 p.m. in the Plaster Student Union Parliamentary Room at SMSU.

Jan. 28

Moon City Reading by Jody Bilyeu and W.D. Blackmon, PhD, begins at 7:30 p.m. in Carrington Hall Auditorium on the SMSU campus. Bilyeu, English lecturer, will read poetry and Blackmon, English department head, will read fiction. The event is free and open to the public. Call (417) 836-4793 for more information.

Naturally Seven, an a cappella septet, performs at 8 p.m. at Juanita K. Hammons Hall for the Performing Arts. The group has little in common with most a cappella groups because it is a regular pop band that has liberated itself from equipment. Jan. 31

Larry G. Brown, PhD, will speak about the philosophical beliefs of the Christian Identity movement 6-9 p.m. at the Drury Diversity Center, 803 N. Drury Lane. Refreshments will be served. Brown will discuss the Biblical interpretations and historic philosophical foundation that support the beliefs of the Christian Identity white supremacist movement. These groups believe God has made a covenant with white people to claim North America as the new Israel, and they resist all attempts of government, church groups and society to create a multicultural society.
