Commodities trader Mercuria Energy Group Ltd. last year struck a deal for $36 million worth of copper from a Turkish supplier. All it received was painted rocks.
The Swiss trading house is pursuing litigation as it says it's the victim of cargo fraud.
The company recently received containers full of jagged paving stones that were spray-painted to resemble copper. The shipment from the seller initially contained copper but was replaced with the rocks by fraudsters, Bloomberg reports.
