The son of David Kemper is succeeding his father as CEO at Commerce Bank.
The regional bank holding company, Commerce Bancshares, appointed President and Chief Operating Officer John Kemper as CEO effective Aug. 1. The younger Kemper will be based out of Commerce’s Clayton headquarters, the St. Louis Post-Dispatch reports.
“This announcement reflects the culmination of a thoughtful and deliberate multi-year succession plan overseen by our board of directors,” said Andy Taylor, executive chairman of Enterprise Holdings, Inc. and Commerce Bancshares’ board member and lead director.
David Kemper, now 67, has led Commerce since 1988. He’ll serve as executive chairman.
