Net income for 2005 totaled $223.2 million, up 1.3 percent from 2004.
Fourth-quarter earnings for the company totaled 81 cents per share, up 14 percent from the fourth quarter of 2004. Net income for the quarter totaled $56.2 million, up 6.6 percent from the same period the year before.
“We are pleased to report 7 percent growth in earnings per share for the year,” Chairman and CEO David Kemper said in a news release. “Significant growth in deposit, bank card and trust fees contributed to the overall increase in noninterest income.”
The company had assets of $13.9 billion as of Dec. 31, while loans were $8.9 billion and deposits totaled $10.9 billion.
Shares of Commerce Bancshares (Nasdaq: CBSH) closed Jan. 23 at $50.09, compared to a 52-week range of $43.94 to $53.63.
