Comcast to buy DreamWorks Animation for $3.8B

After a week of speculation, the deal is official.

Forbes reports Comcast will purchase DreamWorks Animation for $3.8 billion, its equity value. Comcast will pay $41 a share; including debt, the deal totals $4.1 billion, making it more than Disney payed for Pixar.

DreamWorks joins the cable giant’s theatrical division that includes Universal Pictures and Illumination Entertainment.

Forbes reports the deal is expected to close by year’s end.
