Crews removed a bronze statue of Christopher Columbus on Tuesday in St. Louis' Tower Grove Park.
The removal comes amid a nationwide call for officials to take down controversial monuments amid national protests for racial justice.
Installed in 1886, the Columbus statue in St. Louis has been vandalized for years over those concerned with the Italian explorer’s mistreatment of indigenous people.
