Boone Hospital Center in Columbia plans to close its inpatient pediatric unit.
The move will result in 50 layoffs among the hospital's 1,700 employees. Most of the job losses will be in managerial and support roles.
Administered by St. Louis-based BJC HealthCare, Boone Hospital Center officials cited a drop in patients and high insurance deductibles.
