Located on a 10-acre tract of land, this 33,000-square-foot structure will house Colorgraphic Printing Inc., which plans to move from its present location at 925 E. Trafficway by the end of May. Ken-Mar Construction is the general contractor for the project, which is worth an estimated $1.6 million. The architect for the project is Kent Pollard Smith. Because each piece of the company's equipment will have to be taken apart and reassembled, the move is expected to take five to six weeks. The company employs approximately 40 workers, who are looking forward to the move to the larger location the Trafficway property is 21,500 square feet.
Colorgraphic President and Chief Executive Officer Steve Johnson sold the Trafficway property to the city of Springfield for $1.45 million, to make way for Jordan Valley Park.
He purchased 40 acres of land near the Division Street location some of which has been sold, and 10 acres of which he'll keep for future use by Color-graphic. Colorgraphic printing does commercial sheet-fed print work as well as direct mail, catalogs, paperback books and brochures.
