Colorado reaps $2.1M in taxes, fees in first month of recreational pot

Sales of recreational marijuana products in Colorado added more than $2.1 million to state coffers in tax receipts and other fees in the first month retail sales of the drug were allowed, state figures showed on Monday.

The figures were in line with expectations, according to the Colorado Department of Revenue.

Fox News reports recreational marijuana sales in Colorado include a 2.9 percent sales tax, a special 10 percent tax on retail pot sales and a 15 percent excise tax imposed on growers, as well as licensing fees.
