Colombian president wins Nobel Peace Prize

Posted online
Colombian President Juan Manuel Santos won the 2016 Nobel Peace Prize Friday, shortly after citizens voted against an agreement he signed with Marxist rebels to end 52 years of war.

Santos has promised to revive a peace plan with Fuerzas Armadas Revolucionarias de Colombia guerrillas. Many voters thought the plan was too lenient.

Santos, 64, began peace talks with FARC in 2012, carried out in Havana.

The prize will be presented Dec. 10 in Oslo. It's worth $930,000.
