College of the Ozarks names executive VP

College of the Ozarks has hired Fred Mullinax as executive vice president.

Mullinax, a former dean at the Point Lookout school, started Aug. 1. In his new role, he acts on behalf of President Jerry C. Davis while Davis is traveling for the school, according to a news release. He also assists with special projects such as fund-raising and oversees some campus industries.

He previously was a higher education consultant in Lexington, Ky., specializing in institutional advancement and international education programs, the release said. Prior to that, he was dean of public affairs at College of the Ozarks 1997–2001.

Mullinax has a bachelor’s degree in history from Gardner Webb College, a master’s degree in history from Appalachian State University and an honorary doctorate of law from Alice Lloyd College. He also completed language studies at the Goethe Institute in Germany and graduate studies at the University of Kentucky, the release said.
