Cohen blasts Trump in testimony

Posted online

Michael Cohen, Donald Trump's former longtime attorney, put the president on blast during a public testimony before Congress yesterday.

He called Trump a "racist," a "con man" and a "cheat," and alleged the president approved hush money payments to Stormy Daniels, who knew about the 2016 WikiLeaks email dump before it was made public.

"You don’t use your power of your bully pulpit to destroy the credibility of those who speak out against you. You don’t separate families from one another or demonize those looking to America for a better life. You don’t vilify people based on the god they pray to, and you don’t cuddle up to our adversaries at the expense of our allies," Cohen said. "And finally, you don’t shut down the government before Christmas and New Year’s just to simply appease your base. This behavior is churlish, it denigrates the office of the president, and it’s un-American and it’s not you."

Cohen is slated to head to prison in May for three years after pleading guilty last year to tax evasion, bank fraud and campaign finance violations.

"Michael Cohen was one of many lawyers who represented me (unfortunately)," Trump tweeted. "He had other clients also. He was just disbarred by the State Supreme Court for lying & fraud. He did bad things unrelated to Trump. He is lying in order to reduce his prison time. Using Crooked’s lawyer!"
