Coal CEO sues HBO, John Oliver

A coal industry CEO is suing HBO, its parent company Time Warner, John Oliver and his writing staff for defamation.

Robert Murray and his company Murray Energy Corp. filed a suit that alleges Oliver and the others "executed a meticulously planned attempt to assassinate the character and reputation of Mr. Robert E. Murray and his companies” during Sunday’s episode of "Last Week Tonight."

Oliver discussed the deadly 2007 collapse of Murray’s mine in Utah, saying Murray claims it was caused by an earthquake. A government conclusion cited unauthorized mining practices. He also said Murray resembled a "geriatric Dr. Evil."
