CNN Business released a report calling Chipotle's Brian Niccol CEO of the year.
Niccol, the former head of Taco Bell, took over in February to replace founder and Chairman Steve Ells.
Sales were sluggish following an E. coli outbreak in 2015 and 2016. However, this year, under Niccol's leadership, the company's stock has risen nearly 40 percent. That makes Chipotle one of the Top 10 performers on the S&P 500.
