Construction of the Citizens Memorial Healthcare Senior Health Center in Bolivar is nearing completion.
According to a CMH news release, the new center is expected to be finished this month with a grand opening to be held in January.
Located off West Broadway and Highway 32 behind the new Polk County Senior Center, the CMH Senior Health Center will be open 8 a.m.-5 p.m. Monday-Friday, offering several free services to senior citizens age 55 or older. In addition to free education programs on topics including diabetes, breast cancer, weight management and nutrition, the CMH Senior Health Center also will offer free services such as water aerobics classes, a health information library with computers and Internet access, and an aerobics and exercise room with equipment specifically designed for senior citizens.
"This extraordinary project has been made possible by CMH, the city of Bolivar, the Polk County Senior Center, local businesses and individual citizens. They all have shown their dedication to the growth and health of Polk County and the Senior Health Center and we are excited to see the center come full circle," said Jody Pool, coordinator for the CMH Senior Health Center.
