Posted online
Bolivar-based Citizens Memorial Healthcare will host an open house and ribbon-cutting ceremony this weekend for the new Carrie J. Babb Cancer Center.

Located at 1501 S. Oakland, across from Citizens Memorial Hospital, the center was created through a partnership with Kansas-based Central Care Cancer Center, according to the health system’s Web site, www.citizensmemorial.com.

The Carrie J. Babb Cancer Center is housed in a two-story facility and offers medical oncology, hematology, radiation oncology, lymphedema therapy, social and support services and a patient library, according to a news release. The center is staffed by Dr. Leo Shunyakov, who is board-certified in medical oncology, hematology and internal medicine; and Dr. Susanna R. Gordon, a board-certified radiation oncologist.

The open house will be held 1–4 p.m. Sunday, Aug. 24, with the ribbon-cutting at 1:15 p.m.
