Classy Llama leads local firms on annual Inc. 5000

Springfield-based marketing firm Classy Llama Studios LLC leads the way locally on the annual Inc. 5000, and is the only company in the area to make the top 500. Six other local companies made the full list.

On its annual list, Inc. magazine ranks the fastest-growing private companies that submitted applications for consideration based on percentage revenue growth between 2009 and 2012.

Classy Llama, which provides online merchants with marketing, strategy, creative and e-commerce services, nabbed the No. 456 spot on the list. The company posted 2012 revenue of $2.4 million, representing three-year growth of 1,008 percent based on 2009 revenue of $213,167. The company also was the second-highest rated Missouri company on the list - behind No. 103-ranked Liberty firm The Logistics Store - and placed 52nd among advertising and marketing companies nationwide.

HealthcareFirst Inc., a provider of Web-based software for home health and hospice agencies, is the second highest-rated local company, at No. 1,575. The Ozark-based firm posted 2012 revenue of $22.4 million and 2009 revenue of $6.4 million, resulting in three-year growth of 252 percent. Ranked 13th among Missouri firms, the company also made Inc.'s honor roll for being a five-time honoree.

Mount Vernon-based spice manufacturer Red Monkey Foods ranked No. 1,638, with 239 percent three-year growth based on 2012 revenue of $11.4 million and 2009 revenue of $3.3 million. The company placed 14th in Missouri and 35th among U.S. food and beverages companies.

3D Corporate Solutions LLC, a Monett-based pet food ingredient supplier, placed 2,936th on the annual list with $205.6 million in 2012 revenue, representing three-year growth of 116 percent based on $95.3 million 2009 revenue. The company, whose founders Ed and Julia Mareth funded Purdy business incubator Project Genesis, ranked 29th among Missouri firms and 72nd among food and beverage businesses nationwide.

Ranking No. 3,243 on the list and 32nd in Missouri is Russell Cellular of Battlefield, a Verizon agent which provides services from 170 locations in 13 states. The company posted three-year revenue growth of 100 percent, with 2012 revenue of $86.9 million and and 2009 revenue of $43.5 million.

Springfield-based information technology firm JMark Business Solutions Inc. placed No. 3,673 and No. 40 in Missouri, with 81 percent three-year growth from $8.6 million in 2012 revenue and 2009 revenue of $4.8 million.

Rounding out the list of area companies on the Inc. 5000 is Marlin Network Inc. of Springfield, an advertising, marketing and branding company that posted 2012 revenue of $11.3 million, resulting in 54 percent three-year revenue growth based on 2009 revenue of $7.3 million. The company ranked No. 4,380 and also placed 52nd in Missouri.
