A Classic Rock Coffee franchise in downtown Springfield is closing.
The shop, which operates at 535 W. Walnut St., announced in a Facebook post yesterday that April 26 would be its last day in business.
Franchisees Ashley and Brent McGuire opened the shop in 1,300 square feet in Brewery District Flats in May 2020, according to past reporting.
"At the time, downtown was full of life and music, and we wanted to join the party. We all know what happened next, the pandemic," the post reads. "Lots of hard work and creativity kept our little shop open and we made it through.
"Life changes and we have to adjust, and it’s with heavy hearts that we have decided to close our little shop."
Ashley McGuire in 2019 told Springfield Business Journal that she and husband Brent became fans of Classic Rock as frequent visitors to the company's flagship store at 1900 W. Sunset St. McGuire is the daughter of Incredible Pizza Co. founder and CEO Rick Barsness, and she co-owns the Springfield entertainment center on South Campbell Avenue, according to past reporting.
Classic Rock's website additionally lists locations in Republic, North Dakota and Texas, as well as an international shop in Egypt.
A franchise store of a Branson West-based quilting business made its Queen City debut; Grateful Vase launched in Lebanon; and Branson entertainment venue The Social Birdy had its grand opening.
