Clary, Opfer venture gets QVC placement

Posted online
Springfield chef James Clary this week moves a step closer to bringing his instant souffle product to market.

The product, dubbed Gourmet Souffle, makes its debut tomorrow on the QVC shopping network, after it was unveiled in May at the National Restaurant Association show in Chicago, according to a news release.

The souffle product simplifies the roughly hour-long process into an instant chocolate mix.

Calling it "Souffles for Dummies," Clary is partnering with marketer Scott Opfer and Springfield-based Opfer Communications Inc. on the venture, organized under Gourmet Flavors Group LLC.

Gourmet Flavors Group spokeswoman Natalie Stewart said the company is currently in talks with local restaurants, caterers and hotels about carrying the souffle. The company expects to launch the products in restaurants and retail stores next year.

During its 3-4 p.m. time slot on QVC tomorrow, Gourmet Souffle is slated to be presented by TV pitchman Chef Tony Notaro, the release said.

It's been a year of changes for Clary, who left Price Cutter as its culinary director in March, joined The Tower Club as general manager in April and exited the post five months later. After leaving the private club and events venue atop Hammons Tower operated by John Q. Hammons Industries, Clary launched Chef Clary's Consulting, providing customer service consulting, as well as marketing and sales work, according to Springfield Business Journal archives.[[In-content Ad]]
