City's monthly sales tax revenue rises 24%

The city of Springfield's 1 percent sales tax check from the Missouri Department of Revenue came in this month 23.6 percent higher than the same month a year ago.

In the October check, which represents sales processed by the state in September from transactions made largely in July and August, revenue was $3.8 million, up $721,095 from the year earlier, according to a news release.

Including the October check, year-to-date revenue collections are $14.6 million, an 11 percent jump compared to the same time period in the prior fiscal year. The city's fiscal year began July 1.

For the fiscal year, the city's sales tax collections are 5.2 percent ahead of budget.
