The city of Springfield's latest 1 percent sales tax check from the Missouri Department of Revenue shows a revenue increase of roughly $178,000.
The city's November sales tax check jumped 9 percent to $2.15 million, compared to $1.97 million a year before, according to a city news release.
With the latest check, the city's year-to-date collections have increased 8.9 percent to $15.94 million from $14.63 million at the same time last fiscal year. The city's 2012 fiscal year began in July.
Sales tax checks represent collections from previous months.
Under construction beside the existing Republic branch of the Springfield-Greene County Library District – which remains in operation throughout the project – is a new building that will double the size of the original, according to library officials.
