City's monthly sales tax check down 18.2%

The city of Springfield's 1 percent sales tax check for March from the Missouri Department of Revenue is $2.6 million, down 18.2 percent from the March 2010 collections check of $3.2 million.

The city's 1 percent sales tax checks represent money collected during the previous month.

The city's year-to-date earnings from the sales tax are $26.7 million, up 0.8 percent from $26.5 million earned in the same time period last year.

Springfield's fiscal year ends in June.
