City's May sales tax check up 17.5%

The city of Springfield's 1 percent sales tax check from the Missouri Department of Revenue came in at $2.4 million for May, a 17.5 percent increase compared to $2 million in the same month last year.

The latest check puts the city's fiscal year-to-date revenues at $34.5 million, down 1.5 percent from $35.1 million at the same time in the prior fiscal year, according to a news release.

Monthly revenue is $17,645 above budget, while year-to-date revenue is $664,402 below budget.

Sales tax checks from the Department of Revenue represent transactions made in previous months. The city's fiscal year ends June 30.
