City's hotel room sales rise through November

Springfield hotel room sales rose to $7.4 million in November, bringing year-to-date sales up to $94 million.

Through November, sales were up 9 percent from $86.2 million at the same time in 2014, according to the Springfield Convention & Visitors Bureau’s January newsletter.

The November occupancy rate was 54 percent, an increase from 53.3 percent a year earlier. However, the year-to-date occupancy rate was 61.1 percent, down slightly from 61.3 percent at the same time in 2014.

The average daily room rate rose to $77.99 in November and $79.74 for the year.

In the newsletter, the CVB reports 2015 would be a record-breaking year for the area lodging industry when statistics finish coming down the pike.
