City's December sales tax check down 4%

Springfield's 1 percent sales tax check for December from the Missouri Department of Revenue totaled $3.79 million, a 4 percent decrease compared to $3.95 million in the same month of the prior fiscal year.

In fiscal 2013, which began July 1, only the November and August checks - $2.37 million and $2.15 million, respectively - represented year-to-year increases from fiscal 2012, according to data released yesterday by the city.

Fiscal 2013 collections through December are $19.04 million, a 4.2 percent decrease from $19.88 million during the first six months of fiscal 2012.
